Everest Base Camp Trek-12 days Difficulty

Everest Base Camp Trekking is considered as a moderate trekking in Nepal in Khumbu region. So, prior trekking or hiking experience is recommended but not compulsory. Even the trekkers for the first time without having doing any other trek can do this trek. Again, it doesn’t mean that it is easy trek in Nepal.

We begin  Everest Base Camp Trek-12 days with an elevation of 1380m from Kathmandu and gradually we reach the highest point 5550 m which is Kalapatthar. So, it requires high level of stamina and sound health condition.

Accommodation

We will offer three star accommodations in Kathmandu .  If you want to upgrade the accommodation, you have to pay some extra. Mountain accommodation during the trekking days will be very ordinary and basic. All accommodation will be on twin sharing basis. Single supplementary has to pay extra.  We spend the night at lodges and guesthouses. We occasionally get attached bathrooms. eNepaltour Pvt. Ltd. tries its best to book the A grade accommodation in the mountain prior to the trekking unlike other populated regions.

Meals

We provide only breakfast in Kathmandu and during the trekking days. In the trekking days, you pick up the item mentioned in the menu at the lodge or guesthouse and you will enjoy it. Sometimes, in a big group, you may have buffet service too. This takes place especially in peak season (Sept-Nov).  Breakfast will be provided at the guesthouse where we spent the night, lunch somewhere in the middle of the next destination and dinner at the guesthouse where we stay tonight. We offer you typical organic Nepali cushion which are really amazing.

Best Time to Travel

Autumn (Sept. to Nov.) and spring (March to May) are the best time for Trekking. The weather is delightful and pleasant during autumn. The mountain views are astonishing.

The hills are wrapped with beautiful flowering rhododendron during spring. Mjaority of the trekkers find Spring best time for Everest Base Camp Trek-12 days since they love to see flowering rhododendron.

Winter( Dec-Feb) will be very harsh due to cold and cloudy weather which hide the mountain peaks.

Summer will be too hot for some trekkers. Heavy rainfall occurs and disturbs the transportation and even walk in the mountain.

Physical Condition and Experience

Those who can walk 5-7 hours in the mountain can do this trek.  Everest Base Camp Trek-12 days  is a moderate and sometimes it becomes challenging too,  trek in Everest Region Trekking . Regular exercise, jogging and short hiking enhance your stamina and confidence.  Prior trekking experience and technical skills are recommended . These prior skills will be an asset for it.

Getting to the trailhead and Away

We fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. It is short 35 minutes flight.  Lukla is the beginning point of Everest Base Camp Trek. We again end our Everest Base Camp Trek-12 days at Lukla and take a scenic flight to Kathmandu.

Threats and Safety

We do not really face such terrible threats during this trekking. There is no any slippery and steep trail .

There are few cases the trekkers suffered from altitude sickness. It may be because dehydration and lack of stamina. Report it to you trekking leader or guide if you have any health inconveniences. You will immediately be rescued. Drink plenty of hot drinks and do not smoke in the higher elevation. Have balanced diet and have sound sleep.

Note: If you have serious health problem, please consult doctor or inform us before departure to the trailhead.

What to bring with us while climbing Kalapatthar?

Kalapatthar is the most rewarding vantage point in Everest Region Trekking in Nepal. It is normally climbed in early morning at 5 or 5.30. It takes 1.30 minutes to get the summit. It is windy.

1.Torchlight

It is normally dark while we climb Kalapatthar. So, in order to avoid some accidents, be with torchlight with proper lighting. We need to use it till we get to the summit.

2.A pair of warm gloves

It is cold in early morning while we climb Kalapatthar. Sometimes, it is freezing cold. In order to keep your fingers warm, it is compulsory to be with a pair of warm gloves.

3.A down Jacket

Sometimes, the cold at the summit of Kalapatthar is unbearable. Your nose is melting and your hands are freezing and your eyes are tearing. To protect your body from cold, bring down jacket which resists the cold -10 .

4.Warm Water (1.5 liter minimum)

Your body will be sweating while climbing Kalapatthar and it is very uncomfortable to drink cold water. So, we recommend you to bring warm water.

5.Sunglasses

It is a must thing to be with you. As sun rises, it reflects the rays from mountain to our naked eyes directly. So, in order to protect your eyesight, be with sunglasses.

6.A Tiny Backpack Bag

You bring it so that you feel comfortable to keep the things like tissue paper, sunglasses, torchlight, camera and the like.

7.Tissue Paper

We are sure that your nose will be melting during the climb. So, bring tissue paper. But do not throw the paper indiscriminately. Dispose it properly.

8.Bring some snacks (Recommended, not obligatory)

In case you want to spend longer time at the summit of Kalapatthar, we need to feed our body. So, better to bring some light snacks with you.

9.Bring guide or porter

We really do not recommend to climb Kalapatthar without guide or porter. Guide and porter will be serving you all the time and take care of you.
