Trip Overview

Makalu Trek is counted among the most demanded trekking routes in the region. This beautiful mountain peak Makalu is similarly popular as other mountain peaks are. Picturesque landscapes here offer you superior feeling of being a part of this glorious design of nature. Most of the beautiful places of the Makalu region are covered by this particular trek. The itinerary has been specially designed in order to make a completely satisfying journey.

Mount Makalu is known to be the fifth highest mountain peak in the world. Standing alone with an edifying altitude of 8,463 metres, the peak dominates any other ones around its territory. Another fact that stuns ever visitor is that the region is so well protected by the Makalu Barun National Park which is also a conservational area. It was established in the year 1992 and covers an area of 2,330 square kilometres.

The Makalu Region was restricted to its outside visitors until it was completely opened. Since then, explorer have been passionate about trekking in the region. Why wouldnt they, as there are so many additional features to that of any other trekking trail. Rich in geographical, ecological and cultural diversities, Makalu region has the best of all.

Day 01:

Arrival in Kathmandu [1,300m/4,264ft]. Transfer to hotel. Hotel overnight

Day 02:

Full day Kathmandu sightseeing tour and trek preparations. Hotel overnight

Day 03:

Fly from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and then further drive to Chichila [1,840m/6035ft] that takes 9 – 10 hours. Teahouse overnight

Day 04:

Trek from Chichila to Num [1,500m/4920ft] that takes 6 – 7 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 05:

Trek from Num to Seduwa [1,540m/5051ft] that takes 6 – 7 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 06:

Trek from Seduwa to Tashi Gaon [2,070m/6,790ft] that takes 4 – 5 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 07:

Trek from Tashi Gaon to Khongma [3,560m/11,676ft] that takes 6 – 7 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 08:

Acclimatization day in Khongma

Day 09:

Trek from Khongma to Dibotey [3,650m/11,972ft] via Shipton La that takes 7 – 8 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 10:

Trek from Dibotey to Yangle Kharka [3,600m/11,808ft] that takes 5 – 6 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 11:

Trek from Yangle Kharka to Merek [4,500m/14,760ft] that takes 5 – 6 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 12:

Trek from Merek to Shersong that takes 6 – 7 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 13:

Trek from Shersong to Makalu Base Camp [5,000m/16,400ft] that takes 5 – 6 hours. Camp overnight

Day 14:

Trek from Makalu Base Camp to Yangle Kharka that takes 8 – 9 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 15:

Trek from Yangle Kharka to Mumbuk that takes 6 – 7 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 16:

Trek from Mumbuk to Khongma that takes 6 – 7 hours. ,Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 17:

Trek from Khongma to Tashi Gaon that takes 5 – 6 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 18:

Trek from Tashi Gaon to Num that takes 4 – 5 hours. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 19:

Trek from Num to Chichila and then further trek to Tumlingtar that takes 9 – 10 hours in total. Camp or teahouse overnight

Day 20:

Fly back from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu. Hotel overnight

Day 21:

A short sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. Farewell dinner along with a cultural show. Hotel overnight

Final departure
