Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek-10 days

Trip Overview

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek , one of the most rewarding and classic trekking trails of Nepal, takes you to the heart of the Annapurna and Mount Machhapuchre. This trek is popular as a short trek in Nepal in the Himalayas. The presence of abundant natural highlights lure each individual traveler   to be a part of this trek. This is actually a trekking through traditional settlements, friendly ethnic people, deep and lush forest including rhododendron. During spring, the entire  Ghorepani-Poohnill- Ghandruk trekking Region is blanketed with flowering rhododendron. At this very moment, we feel as if we are in the Garden of Eden in the heaven. Similarly, the cascading water falls, terraced fields, off the beaten track and many more are other major highlights of this trek. Most importantly, the trekkers witness incredible entire Annapurna Range.

The trek begins after a scenic drive or fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Before this, we do Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing tour to UNESCO World Heritage sites. This beautiful city, Pokhara, is considered as a paradise for tourists. Truly a mesmerizing city, it is also the gateway to Annapurna Himalayan Region of Nepal. The Lakeside at the banks of Phewa Lake and the stunning views of Mount Machapuchhre leaves a remarkable experience to visitors.

As start our trekking part at Naya Pool. We gain access to this spot after a short drive from Pokhara where a large suspension bridge lays on its way. Towering the elevation, landscapes down below seem utterly awesome. At later phases of the trek, it takes through some of the unforgettable viewpoints such as Ghorepani and Poon Hill. Among them, Poon Hill is the most popular for offering exclusively rare delightful views of nature. It feels to be a part of nature and the act of the exploring newer places boosts your self-esteem.

An early climb to Poonhill offers us an eye dazzling views of sunrise and mountain peaks including Annapurna-I, Annapurna-IV, Himchuli, Gangapurna, Ganesh Himal, Manasalu and many more.

Our move to Ghandruk via Tadapani is equally awesome. Ghandruk is a beautiful village mostly inhabited by Gurung people. We can visit Gurung Museum and Annapurna Conservation Area Project office and have plenty of insights of entire region.

We end our  Ghorepani- Poonhill- Ghandruk Trek after our drive of flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Poonhill, the steep stone steps more than 3000 is sometimes a challenge for the trekkers. However, it offers us a magnificent memory for the lifetime.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek offers unbelievable experiences that carves a special attachment between visitors and nature. Why would anyone choose for another trekking trail if this one is truly the most ideal one?

Mountain accommodation during the trekking days will be very ordinary and basic. All accommodation will be on twin sharing basis. Single supplementary has to pay extra.  We spend the night at lodges and guesthouses. We occasionally get attached bathrooms. eNepaltour Pvt. Ltd. tries its best to book the A grade accommodation in the mountain prior to the trekking unlike other populated regions.

Meals

We provide only breakfast in Kathmandu and during the trekking days. In the trekking days, you pick up the item mentioned in the menu at the lodge or guesthouse and you will enjoy it. Sometimes, in a big group, you may have buffet service too. This takes place especially in peak season (Sept-Nov).  Breakfast will be provided at the guesthouse where we spent the night, lunch somewhere in the middle of the next destination and dinner at the guesthouse where we stay tonight. We offer you typical organic Nepali cushion which are really amazing. One item of meal costs between3-9 USD in this trekking route.

Best Time to Travel

Autumn (Sept. to Nov.) and spring (March to May) are the best time for Trekking. The weather is delightful and pleasant during autumn. The mountain views are astonishing.

The hills are wrapped with beautiful flowering rhododendron during spring. Mjaority of the trekkers find Spring best time to trek to Langtang-Gosainkunda since they love to see flowering rhododendron.

Winter( Dec-Feb) will be very harsh due to cold and cloudy weather which hide the mountain peaks.

Summer will be too hot for some trekkers. Heavy rainfall occurs and disturbs the transportation and even walk in the mountain.

Physical Condition and Experience

Those who can walk 4-5 hours in the mountain can do this trek.  Ghorepani-Poonhill Trekking is a moderate  trek in Annapurna Region Trekking in Nepal . Regular exercise, jogging and short hiking enhance your stamina and confidence. No  prior trekking experience and technical skills are required for Ghorepani-Poonhill Trekking. These prior skills will be an asset for it.

Getting to the trailhead and Away

We drive of fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara. It is short 25 minutes flight. But if you choose to drive, it takes 8-9 hours. Again from Pokhrara, we drive 1.30 hrs to Nayapool. Nayapool is the bginning point of Ghorepani-Poonhill Trekking. We again end our Ghorepani-Poonhill trekking at Nayapool and drive back to Pokhara. We either choose to fly or drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara.

Threats and Safety

We do not really face such terrible threats during this trekking. There is no any slippery trail. We do not face any glaciers and avalenches in Ghorepani-Poonhill Trekking. But climbing steep uphill of  Ulleri might be challenging sometimes for the beginners. But it is only for 2-3 hours hiking. Otherwise,  we will clebrate beautiful and pleasant trek in the lap of mountains.

There are very rare cases the trekkers suffered from altitude sickness or some dizziness. This is not actually altitude sickness. We do not really get altitude proble below 4000 m.  It may be because dehydration and lack of stamina. Report it to you trekking leader or guide if you have any health inconveniences. You will immediately be rescued. Drink plenty of hot drinks and do not smoke in the higher elevation. Have balanced diet and have sound sleep.

Note: If you have serious health problem, please consult doctor or inform us before departure to the trailhead.
