But some trekkers still love jeep or local bus drive from Pokhara to Josmsom which is really inconvenient. First, we either drive or fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and we again drive or fly from Pokhara to Jomsom and begin our trekking towards Kagbeni.

Upper Mustang Trek Itinerary

 Upper Mustang Trekking Weather

Upper Mustang Region in Nepal is almost all the time shaded by rainfall. This region hardly gets rainfall once or twice a year. So, the weather is dry. We hardly get vegetations in this region. We experience the arid landscapes and the settlements.

Normally, we experience strong wind in the afternoon and in the evening the weather gets cold. Thus, we have to be with a jumper or wind proof jacket and glass all the time. Expect completely dry weather during your trip to Upper Mustang Region.

Upper  Mustang Trekking Permit Cost

Since Upper Mustang Trekking is a restricted area trekking, we need to obtain a special trekking permit which replaces normal TIMS. For this special trekking permit, we need to pay USD 500 per individual to get entry to Upper Mustang Region.

Besides, we need to obtain permit to Annapurna Conservation Area which requires USD 20 per individual. There is no need of normal TIMS Card if you are planning for Upper Mustang Region.

Best Time to Travel

Autumn (Sept. to Nov.) and spring (March to May) are the best time for Trekking. The weather is delightful and pleasant during autumn. The mountain views are astonishing.

The hills are wrapped with beautiful flowering rhododendron during spring. Also majority of the trekkers find Spring best time for Annapurna Circuit Trekking since they love to see flowering rhododendron and thrilling landscapes.

Winter( Dec-Feb) will be very harsh due to cold and cloudy weather which hide the mountain peaks.

Summer will be too hot for some trekkers. Heavy rainfall occurs and disturbs the transportation and even walk in the mountain.

Physical Condition and Experience

Those who can walk 4-5 hours in the mountain can do this trek.  Upper Mustang Trekking  is a moderate  trek in Annapurna Region Trekking in Nepal . Regular exercise, jogging and short hiking enhance your stamina and confidence. No  prior trekking experience and technical skills are required for Annapurna Base Camp Trekking. These prior skills will be an asset for it.

Threats and Safety

We do not really face such terrible threats during this trekking. There is no any slippery trail. We do not face any glaciers and avalenches in Annapurna Upper Mustang Trekking.  We will fully clebrate beautiful and pleasant trek in the lap of mountains.

There are few cases the trekkers suffered from altitude sickness. It may be because dehydration and lack of stamina. Sometimes, we have the proble of  food poison too. Report it to you trekking leader or guide if you have any health inconveniences. You will immediately be rescued. Drink plenty of hot drinks and do not smoke in the higher elevation. Have balanced diet and have sound sleep.
